Joseph’s Thoughts

On August 12th I entered the class thinking it was gonna be just a regular English class like any other one I’ve had in the past. My  writing skills weren't the best at the beginning of the year but since I've been in this class they've improved so much. But then I realized on how we got to vote on what we wanted our class to be like for the school year. Dr. Preston left the room and let us vote and decide on how we wanted the year to go. We decided on open source since it was something new to most of us. My first initial reaction to the blogs and the journals was different because it was nothing like any other English class I've had in the past. It was hard to memorize the poetry and this resulted in not posting them and not getting the credit for them. This was a challenge because memorizing and posting poetry was something I've never done before. The part where I felt the most tension and felt where it was gonna be hard was when we had to do the poetry and

I didn't really do much over the break other than enjoy and spend time with family and friends. I wanted to use my break to releve stress and take my mind off a few things. It was kind of like a mental break from things and it helped a lot. I came back today feeling refreshed and ready to learn again.

Eminent- A foreshadow To believe your own thought, to believe in that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men,- that is genius. He's saying we should listen to our own thoughts instead of what other people thing. Imitation is suicide ? Everyone is unique and shouldn't try to be like anyone else Nobody is responsible for yourself but you. A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of foolish minds To be great is to be understood. Its not what you decide to do , people read you all the time You don't respect someone because they demand , bribe or ask, you respect them because they earn it or deserve it.           A guy named Leonard Mead goes for his nightly walk as usual but on this night for some reason he gets stopped by a cop. He had never got stopped before so he was shocked because he didn't do anything wrong. He was simply minding his own business not causing any trouble to anyone. In this world we become willing slaves or almost like followers. We get older as time goes by and we try to keep up with all the new ideas or trends.            The authors tone is lonely and sad because the story is only about one person. There's only one person in the story and the streets are all dark and nobody's around. Nobody in sight, everyone in their homes with their family, but not Leonard. He has gotten used to living his everyday life and it hasn't changed until he has gotten stopped one night for doing nothing.            Mead is more of a lonely and isolated person. He keeps to himself and doesn't talk to anyone. The only other person he talks to in the story

In my life I invest my time in many things throughout the day. Some of things can be stressful and very time consuming but I know that in the end it will pay off. I try to relieve stress by exercising or playing sports. I always put my studies before any other stuff I do because going to school and getting an education is the biggest key to success.

My first impression of "How We Read" was that there is many ways that people learn and develop things on a daily basis.

This poem is different than all of the others poems we've had. It's shorter and seems easy to memorize. I think that in his dream he thinks his life has been a dream. Yes, the journal topic came to mind because they were both similar to each other.

Young Goodman Brown was about a man who has a wife and one day goes on  walk in an unfamiliar place. A lot of strange things occur in the story that made me think if this guy was dreaming or if this was reality. He has all these thoughts going through his head .He encounters a man he doesn't know and the man tries to persuade him to follow him but Young Goodman Brown doesn't follow so he continues his way into the woods.

I feel like its easier to write an essay without a prompt or like a certain way of writing it. I feel like if you just flow with all of the knowledge that you know then it might be easier to just put it all together. I think that it would be easier to write an essay on "Young Goodman Brown" without a prompt.

This guy goes on a walk into an unfamiliar place that he has never been to before and is hesitant at first but proceeds to go into the woods.

I haven't really done something big that I consider an accomplishment this year yet. I guess I can say that i'm there on time everyday and am ready to get to work when class starts.

I feel like sometimes there is not enough time in the day. If you are a busy person and have thigs to do it feels like the days is over so fast. You can't just stay up and not get any sleep because it's not good for your health. Us humans have to many tasks throughout the day some may not even get done sometimes.

It seems like the girl is dreaming about the Skyland and a big tree uprooting and she tells her husband and the husband says "well lets make it happen" because he wants it to be real.

I feel like we as people need to be more understood. Sometimes people make statements that don't seem clear to some people and they may feel like they don't fully understand it all the way

As I get deeper into my book it is still interesting and very suspenseful and I have't gotten bored of it yet so that's a good sign.

So far I am almost done with my book and I like it. Its very suspenseful and I am usually into those types of books.

Personally I learned how to read when I was younger because I had my family start reading to me at a young age. I think that that helped out a lot with developing vocabulary and other things that helped when I was learning to read.

Sometimes I think is our world going to end soon because of all that's going on with our environment lately. All this plastic in the ocean and killing animals to all these shooting in places all around the world.

I feel as the days go on you get to know the people you surround yourself with. You see them everyday and you become closer to them. At the beginning of the year I didn't know any of the people that I sit with. Now if I see them outside of class i'll say hello. The people that your around daily just fit themselves into your lives like that.

Today I asked a question. My question was asking why are all these bad things happening to our environment suddenly over the past couple years?

I learned that everything you send through your phone or device is saved somewhere on the internet. Anyone can have access to it if they tried. So this means that you have to think about what you send before you send it so that way you aren't surprised and stuck in a lie. This can also lead to people hacking your account so you should change your password frequently to help prevent this.

Usually when I hear from a teacher that we're writing an essay I think of so much. I think of all the negative things because I don't like essays. I usually procrastinate and do it the night before and I tend to do that with a lot of things. It works but I feel like if I took more time on it the outcome would be a lot better.

Remix- Took something and combined it with something else and made something new. Anybody can remix.... Everything is a remix Domain Knowledge- Knowledge bout the environment Bob Dylan- Created music nobody has ever heard of. Taking existing things and making a variation Albert Einstein created E=MC squared because he thought the fit together but he didn't create the letters. I believe that there are any ways and strategies to use to help memorize things. Some people use flash cards or writing stuff down constantly helps people remember things. Some people take new things into mind faster than others and process it easier. Like if your a slow reader it can be harder

1. This class is an English class but its not like any other English class because all of our work is done on the computer rather than a book. 2. I think that the easiest part of this class is probably the work that we have to do is mainly all online and we don't have to carry around all day. 3. Id say that there's nothing really hard about this class, you just really have to do all the posts and try not to fall behind 4. Iv'e learned a lot of new and interesting things i this class like new ways of how I think of things and analyze. 5.  One question that I have is that on the first day why did he ask us if we wanted to have all our assignments rather than out of the book and on paper.

In the text the hacker/ writer uses different tones and different exclamations in each paragraph. He doesn't care about all the proper writing strategies he cares about his point and how he makes it sound.

The essay stood out to me because i felt like it was really straight forward. He stated facts and real life events that he faced. He wasn't afraid to let us know what he face and he wanted it to be known.

In some cases you are not entitled to your ow opinion because someone might tell you otherwise. Some things that you say can be harmful or used against you. Some situations you can speak your mind freely and other situations you can't or may not be entitled to.
